Terrific short book for Christmas

The first book I read by Rachel Schurig was "Lovestruck in London" thanks to a free download from Book Bub. To be honest, I was a little put off by the word "Lovestruck" in the title and almost didn't get it, but then I read the blurb and was intrigued. I read the book and LOVED it...loved it so much I purchased the next two books in the series. When I was given the opportunity to read and review this little book (it is a novella) I jumped.
"Lovestruck at Christmas" continues the story of Lizzie and Thomas five weeks after their London wedding and through to Christmas in Detroit with her family, the Medinas. There is always drama with the Medina family, but all the Christmas surprises lead everyone to realize what is truly important. Despite being a continuation in their story, this novella can easily be read without having already been introduced to the characters; it will then make you want to go back to the beginning and read how they became a couple in spite of their very different backgrounds.
I've been very impressed by how these stories are written. Rachel Schurig has taken a plot that many would daydream about and brought it to life - believably so. The characters are so realistically written that you begin to feel that these are people you know and care about, and want to know better. I especially love that Lizzie and her family bring to life their Hispanic culture in meaningful ways. Another plus - this is a beautiful love story told without all the graphic details...the reader can use imagination to fill in the blanks.
This is a sweet little book just right for the Christmas season. I hope it will eventually be expanded into a full length novel so we can enjoy more of Lizzie and Thomas's story.

Short but sweet!

I love Rachel Schurig's books. They are peopled with such loveable characters and 'Lovestruck at Christmas' continues the story of Lizzie and Thomas from the previous Lovestruck books. It could be read as a stand alone novel though you won't get quite as caught up in it all if you haven't read the other 3 preceding books.
I must admit, I was a bit sad that this was a novella (just that little bit shorter)! It's very much a teaser I hope of a story that will continue with some of the other characters we've met in the series - namely Lizzie's cousin Sofie and the charming movie star Jackson Coles (read 'Sofie and the Movie Star' as part of the LOL vol 2 pack for some more hot gossip on these two!)
Spoiler alerts from the previous books - This short story tells the tale straight after 'Lovestruck Forever', just a few weeks after Lizzie and Thomas get married. They're in the house they're renovating and once again, there are Medina family dramas! Christmas day looms and Lizzie and Thomas are back in Detroit visiting Lizzie's family including the very pregnant Sofie..... No spoilers on this book but you will finish it wishing there was more to read!
I love Lizzie and Thomas and I think a lot of readers will identify with the well meaning but interfering Medina clan.

A great book to snuggle up with and enjoy

Have you ever stepped back and marveled at the best Christmas-time has to offer? Lovestruck at Christmas weaves a warm story of love, laughter, friends, and family! Lizzie and her actor husband, Thomas, have been married five weeks. They have bought a new home that requires a complete renovation. After weeks of hard DIY labor and unexpected disaster, will the home be inhabitable before Christmas? Rachel's characters are so delightful and never fail to remind you that grand memories can be made in every moment. Thomas and Lizzie's friends had me giggling and I felt like I was working right along side them.
The Lovestuck series always has some great family drama. If you haven't read the previous books, I urge you to start from the beginning--Lovestruck in London. In Lovestruck at Christmas, the Medina family, Lizzie's large clan, all work together to bring forth what is truly important during the holiday season. This book will have you laughing and wondering at what is to come in the lives of the supporting characters. Each character is so easy to love. My heart connects to their struggles and triumphs. Life is no easy, picture perfect path, but Lizzie and Thomas point out there is nothing like embracing each moment to dance along the way.
