"This book is the perfect example of a page turner..."Onlinebookclub.orgThe author writes in a matter-of-fact way without resorting to explicit sex scenes. The use of dialogue is superb. There is just the right blend of description and dialogue so that the reader gets a clear picture of the ways that sexual abuse is subtly tolerated by the family.

The characters are well developed. As you can imagine, the choices they make are often far from ideal, but their actions fit perfectly within the storyline. The chapters alternate between each girl's points of view. I can see why the author chose this plot device, as the reader is able to see the women's parallel progression through the years. This book deserves nothing less than 4 out of 4 stars The author should be commended for shining a light on a sensitive topic by crafting an interesting, believable tale. I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates good writing, particularly about a subject that is too often swept under the rug.

Andre Gerard Smith II, known by many as Dre, is a native of Plymouth, a rural, family oriented town near the Atlantic Coast of North Carolina. He attended Plymouth High School where he was an honor student, and served as an active member of various clubs and organizations. Immediately after, he furthered his education at East Carolina University and in 2008, relocated to Raleigh, NC, where he began a professional career. In his free time, Andre enjoys spending time with family and close friends, traveling, reading, and writing.

Very well-written and heartfelt story

It's not often that such a serious subject as sexual abuse can be tackled in a fictional tale and be done with dignity and grace, while also entertaining the reader with a good story. This is exactly what author A.L. Smith accomplishes with her novel, "Behind Closed Doors". A story of three sisters, Sierra, Alex and Latrice, who suffered greatly while growing up at the hands of a family member. They go their separate ways, only to reunite and find a great resolution for all involved. A very engaging story that pulled at my heartstrings and definitely kept me turning pages. Looking forward to reading part two of this series. Well done.

Great revamp to Book 1! Kudos A.L. Smith!

Great read! I love how A.L. Smith revamped this story to incorporate one of the characters from book 2. I also love the updated ending of the book. This story line is real life as things like this gets swept under the rug and the victims suffer in silence because molestation by a family member goes ignored or the victim is blamed or called fast or loose. The molestation stopped at generation 4 due to one of the victims in this generation putting an end to it before her own child was affected. A.L. Smith kudos to you on the revamp! I enjoyed this book as good as the first version of this book....Keep on writing as you have a wonderful gift that keeps me turning the pages. Patiently waiting on Book 3 to see how this series continues...If I could give a 10 or more stars I would definitely do so. Great job by a wonderful author! Keep on writing as this is definitely your calling!

It's no fun when your life is turned inside out.

This was my first read by this author and I was awe struck at how talented she is and how raw and heart filled this story was. This story had me revisiting my own story and rooting for the ladies as they sought some kind of relief. This is truly a story that should be read by anyone who has suffered trauma or incest. Even if you haven't it is still a good story. Kudos, to a great author who is well on her way.

a unique collection

This nice little book by Volkovyskii et al (translated from Russian) is a collection of exercises, and it covers the central aspects of and themes in complex function theory, elementary geometry, harmonic and analytic functions. It contains graphics and illustrations, and the last third of the book consists of answers and solutions.

The central topics are (in this order) complex numbers, calculus and geometry of the plane, conformal mappings, harmonic functions, power series and analytic functions, and the standard Cauchy-and residue theorems, symmetry, Laurent series, infinite products, ending with a brief chapter on Riemann surfaces, and applications to hydrodynamics and electrostatics. All the material is presented in the form of exercises.

The book was published first in 1965, but reprinted since by Dover. It is suitable and recommended as a supplement in a standard course in complex function theory, late undergraduate level, or beginning graduate.

Of other Dover titles on the same subject we recommend the books by Flanigan, Schwerdtfeger, and Silverman. Review by Palle Jorgensen, August 5, 2006.

The book posits that the uninhabited rain forests of the central Western Niger Delta were conquered and developed by Edoid-speaking Urhobo migrants who took advantage of Iron Age implements that emerged from the transition from Late Stone Age to Early Iron Age some two thousand years ago in the West African region. The book postulates that the progenitors of the Urhobo people arrived in the Western Niger Delta through the waterways of Niger River and its tributaries and that they first settled on the western banks of Ase River and Patani creek. Their descendants moved northwards in cohorts of Kinsmen that conquered and settled portions of the rain forests, resulting in a cascading formation of twenty-two clans with distinct subcultures. Olomu stands out among these due to its central location in Western Niger Delta and has ample linkages with several sub-cultures of Urhoboland, neighbouring Isoko, and Western Ijaw. In Ancient times, Olomu was exceptionally prolific in serving as the origin of four major sub-cultures in northern Urhobo and northern Isoko. Moreover during the early decades of British colonial rule in the 20th century, Olomu played a significant role in the development of Urhoboland. For these reasons, Olomu has been used as a handle for examining the patterns of development of Urhoboland and Western Niger Delta they are presented in this monograph.

This is the most original, most authentic, most well reasoned account of the origin of the Urhobo people that I have ever read. The book is very well researched and written. An excellent book for researchers and students of Urhobo history and the development of the Western Niger Delta.
