The state and those that made it

Jeremy Black is one of my favorite historians. I used many of his works throughout university. As a military historian, he is at the top. This book I thought might have been out of his element…he proved me wrong. This is a very rare look into early modern European society. He is able to show the relationships between the classes of the age and their impact. Black is able to give a full view of early modern European society from church and state to social dynamics. He covers a lot in his book. I must warn you however that the book is difficult to read, even for me, a seasoned university history student. You might half to reread passages, but in the end it is well worth it. I always applaud Jeremy Black, he never disappoints. Keep it up Jeremy Black!
