Loved the story!

This book is great! Meghan Diane tells an excellent story with both humor and hard hitting emotions that I believe both young adults and older ones can relate to - especially those that identify as LGBTQ. This book is fun, cute, sad, and entertaining all at the same time. It really gives a sense of what the characters are going through; making it feel like you're experiencing their high school journey right along with them. I was very impressed with her portrayal of different romantic, friendly, and familial relationships, and that she really captured the wide range of teenage emotions.
Admittedly, it took the first couple chapters to get used to her writing style, but after that, I couldn't put the book down! This book was definitely worth the read, and I can't wait to see what Meghan Diane comes up with next!

This was such a light-hearted and carefree easy read. The way the author approached the situations that arose in this book, and often arise in real life, was handled with such good care. There was enough conflict to keep things afloat but not outlandish that it makes it seem as if every questioning teen goes through horror when facing the difficulty of being their true self with their loved ones. I really enjoyed the innocent way Meghan handled Skye and Andy's relationship. I absolutely recommend this book not only to young gay teens but to anyone who doesn't mind a good young adult fiction every now and then.
So much potential that I cannot wait to see what this author comes up with next.

Whenever a new policy is announced, it is invariably accompanied by a myriad of studies from various academic fields that are utilised to underline the necessity of the policy as well as why it is likely to have the desired effect. Using empirical evidence in order to formulate and justify public policy seems self-evident. However, many prominent social researchers, such as Ray Pawson, are critical of the way in which evidence-based policy is defined and, more importantly, of the current approach to using evidence within the policy-making process. This essay will begin by offering a critical overview of the interventionist approach that is currently applied to EBP. A comparison will then be made between ‘interventionism’ and Pawson’s ‘realist’ approach, before examining Pawson’s assertion that realism is essential to achieving good policy. This comparison will also be accompanied by some relevant examples that have arisen as a result of these different approaches. These examples, along with various critical assessments of interventionism will be used as a foundation for arguing in favour of an incremental shift towards a realist approach to EBP. Finally, potential problems and insufficiencies in Pawson’s specific approach to EBP within a broader political context will also be highlighted.

About the Author
Paulo S. R. Diniz was born in Niteroi, Brazil. He received the Electronics Engineer degree from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1978, the MSc degree from COPPE/UFRJ in 1981, and the PhD from Concordia University, Montreal, PQ, Canada, in 1984, all in electrical engineering. Since 1979, he has been with the undergraduate Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at the UFRJ. He has also been with the graduate Program of Electrical Engineering at COPPE/UFRJ since 1984, where he is presently a Professor. He has also served as undergraduate course coordinator and as chairman of the graduate department. From January 1991 to July 1992, he was a visiting Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Victoria, Canada. In 2002 he served as Melchor Endowment Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Notre Dame, USA. Hehas taught short courses at numerous institutions around the world. His teaching and research interests are in analog and digital signal processing, adaptive signal processing, digital communications, wireless communications, multirate systems, stochastic processes and electronic circuits. He has published over 250 refereed papers in some of these areas, has written two books and has received awards for best papers and technical achievements. He is also a Fellow of IEEE (for fundamental contributions to the design and implementation of fixed and adaptive filters and electrical engineering education) and has served as associate editor for the following journals: IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing (1996 1999), IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing (1999 2002) and Circuits, Systems and Signal Processing (1998 2002). He was a distinguished lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society for the years 2000 to 2001 and served as distinguished lecturer of the IEEE Signal Processing Society in 2004.

The 325 activities include making a potato battery, collecting and pressing leaves, and exploring magnetic fields. Each project is outlined on a single page and illustrated with a clear, but static, black-and-white drawing that appears to be computer generated. A final sentence or paragraph explains why a particular reaction or observation occurs. Although sharp objects, heat, and chemicals are used, precautions are not indicated except for a brief mention in the introduction of "appropriate adult supervision." Many of the activities are clever and some are original, such as making tissue paper dolls dance under a glass rubbed with a woolen cloth. The experiments have been selected from three books originally published in Germany. Some lapses in editing have one experiment referring to another not included in this compilation. A great book that changed my life.

This is a great book that changed my life. My father bought the Chinese version of this book for me in 1982. It was titled "130 scientific games", which was an abridged version of this by H. J. Press and published by the Chinese Publishing House for Children and Young adults(Shao4 Nian2 Er2 Tong2 Chu1 Ban3 She4). I was totally fascinated by all these experiments that anyone can do at home! This book inspired my interests for science long before taking science classes in high school. Twenty years later, when I was a Ph.D student of Biochemistry in the United States, I was wondering if the original "English" version of the book can be found in Amazon. To my surprise, even the English version was translated from the German book. I ordered this and found more experiments than the Chinese version. All the illustrations and charts of the book vividly retrieve the memories of my childhood. I was so excited and almost in tears. I took this great book for my niece to China in 2007 and hope it will inspire the curiosities for science of the new generation. Thank you so much, H.J. Press! Highly recommended!

ugly book, but a great book for science

it was really, really used. i wouldn't charge anyone for that book. but my granddaughter needed it for science projects at school.I would recommend it in better condition.
